Worth It. is an annual conference for girls 6th - 12th grade that seeks to empower young women to see their own true identity and worth while building confidence to support their fellow female. what will my child learn? Community Renewal and the Worth It. Committee are dedicated to offering sessions at this conference that deal with real issues teen girls are facing today in constructive ways, with breakouts led by diverse local women who are experts in their area through education and/or life experiences. who organizes this event? Worth It. is a program of Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County. The conference is put together by a diverse team of local volunteers (primarily women) who are passionate about ensuring all girls can thrive in Shawnee. They are advised by the junior committee, made up of girls in the age group in other CRPC programs, along with We Care. campus staff, who work with teens in area schools each and every day. about worth it Caregiver Breakout Specially curated for parents & guardians of teen girls, this session will feature a panel answering oft-asked (or not asked enough!) questions about the challenges you face in the important role you play in your girl's life. Your answers help Community Renewal help you create a safe, trustworthy, and supportive neighborhood: a neighborhood where you belong. take the survey about the survey Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County is a non-profit organization based in Shawnee, OK dedicated to helping neighbors restore their communities through intentional relationships. Each October, we seek responses to the Annual Neighborhood survey, which helps measure the impact of our services & tell us how to better serve each area of our county. participation & prizes This survey takes about 8 minutes. At the end, you'll have the option to give Community Renewal your contact information for a chance to win a $100 gift card, which will be drawn for the evening of October 27th. All Pott County participants are eligible for 4 of the gift cards.There will be 3 additional drawings: 1 for McLoud participants, 1 for Tecumseh participants, and 1 rural Pott County participants. *Participants must be over 18 and residents of Pottawatomie County. Friendship houses make that dream a reality for under-resourced neighborhoods. Community leaders and neighbors talk about what a Friendship House means for the neighborhood it serves, and why they are excited to have these homes in their communities. how a friendship house works Craig Family Friendship House Built through the generosity of the C.L. Craig & Avedis Foundations, this home & staff focuses on the Kickapoo Park neighborhood and Jefferson Elementary School. The House opened in August 2017 and serves through after school programs, an on-site GED program, community space, community garden, and partnerships with other local organizations to bring resources and support into the neighborhood. Although the house is not yet built, programming has already started within the neighborhood and school. The house is set to open in late 2020 at the corner of Bryan & Main in Shawnee.

The Avedis Foundation learned about the work of CRI and helped establish Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County in 2015 to replicate that work in our region. Members of CRI and the Avedis Foundation stand alongside leaders of multiple Community Renewal Replications (including Pott County) on the steps of a Friendship House in Shreveport, LA.
