friendship houses
Every person ought to have the opportunity to live in a neighborhood where they feel safe, valued, and connected.
Friendship houses make that dream a reality for under-resourced neighborhoods.

Community leaders and neighbors talk about what a Friendship House means for the neighborhood it serves, and why they are excited to have these homes in their communities.
how a friendship house works

Craig Family Friendship House

Built through the generosity of the C.L. Craig & Avedis Foundations, this home & staff focuses on the Kickapoo Park neighborhood and Jefferson Elementary School.
The House opened in August 2017 and serves through after school programs, an on-site GED program, community space, community garden, and partnerships with other local organizations to bring resources and support into the neighborhood.
Good Neighbor Friendship House

Currently under construction through a generous partnership with the Absentee Shawnee Housing Authority, this house project focuses on the Boy Scout Park neighborhood & Pleasant Grove School.
Although the house is not yet built, programming has already started within the neighborhood and school. The house is set to open in late 2020 at the corner of Bryan & Main in Shawnee.
